Stories in Motion
This summer, I have partnered with the Elkader Public Library to do a program called Stories in Motion. This program offers kids the opportunity to engage in a literacy program and physical activity. Every Wednesday morning in June, we take a book and take a walk down to Elkader’s Founder’s Park from the library. We read books along the way about health, wellness, and the natural world. I have also been introducing literacy into the school garden, by offering Story-time in the Central Community School Garden on Wednesday evenings in June. Continue reading

Spring Garden Party

Farm to Pizza with Third Graders!
East Elementary students made mini pizzas as part of a grant to teach “Farm to Pizza” curriculum! After reviewing the components of MyPlate, students drew pictures of pizza toppings and ingredients while determining if they are a grain, fruit, vegetable, dairy or protein! Continue reading
