Meet Harleigh Boldridge – the new AmeriCorps member for Allamakee schools.
“I grew up in a small town in Northeast Kansas. My family has lived there for a few generations and have been farming throughout the area and the Missouri River valley for over 100 years!
“Throughout middle and high school I spent time working for various local farmers as they kept their green houses and cared for livestock. Since moving to Northeast Iowa, I have worked for different farms while in college. I graduated from Luther College in May with a Bachelors Degree in Social Work, as well as the Jenson Medal, awarded to an individual in the graduating class who exemplifies the college’s standards of community and Service.
“I am interested in exploring how local foods can be done in a sustainable and just manner. I am very excited to bring my passions of local foods and community to Allamakee schools, and to connect with the awesome networks already in place here!”
