Wigglers move inside for winter

Here is an update from the environmental projects monitoring class at Central High School aka Central Green Team. Last year, they installed a large worm bin inside of the bus garage. This year they purchased a stackable worm bin for inside housing during the cold months. All 15,000 of the little red wigglers are happy and warm in their new home. They are still getting fed food scraps from the lunch room. The liquid that comes off the compost is collected and used to fertilize the lettuce that they have been growing in the greenhouse to use in the lunch room.

  1. Wow!! I am so impressed and encouraged! Great to hear about the integration into the garden program – they really are doing things full circle there!
