Summer Gardening

Thankfully, the gardens at Decorah High School are managed by some awesome teachers: Brad Johansen and Tim Hayes. With their guidance, I have been helping out in the garden during summer school, picking strawberries, planting cucumbers and summer squash, and weeding. Growing in the Garden Training

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is holding Connecting Learning and Living (CLL) training that will feature more than 100 researched-based and hands-on lessons for teachers, home school, afterschool, 4-H, youth group leaders, community garden organizers, day camp coordinators and master gardeners working with children in kindergarten-sixth grade. Training is Monday, April 14 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Black Hawk County Extension Office, 3420 University Avenue, Waterloo.  A light supper will be served. Continue reading
