4-H Food and Fitness members gathered from 9 school districts around NE Iowa for the Regional Youth Leadership Team winter gathering on the Luther College campus this month. These youth and adults from area schools meet quarterly to learn about wellness issues in their communities, identify projects to help their school or community, and network by sharing experiences of their club projects and build ideas for future ones. Hello again! My name is Brandi Crozier and I am an AmeriCorp Member for the Northeast Iowa Food & Fitness Initiative serving in the MFL MarMac CSD as the Resource Contact. MFL MarMac will continue support of the Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness Initiative next year. Through the program, which serves Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek Counties, representatives work with school districts’ wellness committees, teachers, food service and administrators to improve each school’s food, fitness and wellness policies. Chicken, quinoa, onion, garlic and gouda cheese. An interesting combination for a food dish, albeit a surprisingly tasty one. It was one of several dishes created by MFL MarMac’s youth wellness team, HYPE, for its first FEEST dinner last week.
