Investigating Beans

Shanna Putnam Dibble, Elementary Learner Advocate in the Decorah Community School District shared what the West Side students did with their ‘bean’ investigations.

“West Side students were introduced to beans with a mystery bag.  I put dried beans in a paper bag, students could feel them, and shake them, but they could not look at them.  I gave them clues until they were able to guess the food of the month.”

“Students prepared bean dip and made bean quesadillas (they were a big hit!).  Students also did counting and quantifying activities with dried beans. Thanks to all the West Side teachers for connecting kids to their food.
