Major Grant to Support Beginning Farmers

We are excited to announce that Practical Farmers of Iowa — along with the Center for Rural Affairs, Healthy Harvest of North Iowa and Northeast Iowa Food and Farm Coalition — has been awarded a grant of nearly $578,000 through the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program (BFRDP). PFI is one of 36 organizations to receive a total of $17.7 million in funding.

Receiving this highly competitive grant will let us further our beginning farmer programming, and together with our partners on the grant, will help us support beginning farmers to establish, build and manage successful farms.

This funding will be used to support the NE Iowa local food farmer network coordinated by Kayla Koether for the next three years.
