Hi, I’m Claire Anderson and I am quite excited to be working with Foodcorps and Postville community schools in the effort to connect kids to healthy foods. I am originally from Chagrin Falls, Ohio and I received my bachelor’s degrees in Graphic Design and Cultural Anthropology from Miami University of Ohio.
During time as an undergraduate student I worked with other students on an organic vegetable farm. Through this experience, I became aware of a broader food community of Southwestern Ohio—one that deals with challenges relating to food access, food security, health and nutrition. Within this agricultural setting, I viewed how participation in food production connects students to the food they eat. I hope to contribute to this endeavor by working to make connections between students, local food production, and access to healthy options. I am grateful and excited to explore my new home, Iowa!
If I could be one common kitchen object, I would be a piece of lavender lemon balm soap that sits beside the sink, a calming and uplifting piece of the kitchen.
