Seeking Service Member

Applications are now being accepted for 2017-2018 AmeriCorps members serving with the Luther College Center for Sustainable Communities and the Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness Initiative. Join a team of passionate folks serving area schools in order to integrate healthy living into school culture through modeling and education. They are seeking a position to serve the New Hampton Community School District.

As part of their service, members will teach nutrition education classes, build and support school gardens, encourage Safe Routes to School and integrate Farm to School activities across their assigned district. Through their work, members will deepen the understanding for students, teachers and staff about the benefits of growing and consuming healthy, green, affordable food and being physically active.

Training is provided. Service members receive a modest living allowance, travel reimbursement and an education award, which can be used for higher education tuition or loan repayment after completing a full term of service. The term of service is September 1, 2017 – August 31, 2018.

Luther College is currently accepting applications on a rolling basis; positions will be open until filled. Please submit an electronic letter of interest and a résumé highlighting experiences and rationale to Emily Neal, nealem01@luther.edu
