Last March, a family fun night was held in Oelwein for all Head Start, Child Development and Early Head Start families to participate in. There were centers set up for large motor activities from the Go Smart website gosmart.nhsa.org. This promotes at least an hour of physical activity each day for children. You can discover quick and simple ways to get 0-5 year olds more active and the importance of physical play. Parents and children could make yogurt parfaits with local yogurt, fruit and granola. This fit in with the Farm to Early Care & Education food of the month which was oats.
Parents can have a positive impact on a child’s growth and development by using F2ECE concepts and the 5-2-1-0 message. These opportunities for families to gather and learn more about their child’s development are vital to child development success.
