Looking for an easily accessible place to enjoy the scenery, get some fresh air and exercise?

Check out West Union Recreation Center. The REC center offers smooth, paved walking trails, great spots for picnics and family gatherings, as well as great areas to let the children run and play.


The park is just up the street from the West Union Aquatic Center, past the North Fayette Valley High School and is connected the aquatic center by walking trail.  The walking trail has a .7 mile continuous paved trailed.  Trails can also connect to the city loop which entails a 2.9 walk.  Trees, landscaping, and trails invite outdoor lovers to make this a regular stop.  In the spring and fall many young soccer players hit the field to practice ad play the sport as families watch them go!  In the summer the complex boasts many nights filled with exciting softball and baseball games for children of all ages.  The REC center has modern bathroom facilities and a snack bar that is open during ball season.  Basketball and tennis courts are present for those wishing to engage in a game or shoot some hoops.



In addition to the ball diamonds and soccer fields the center has three small ponds two of which are stocked with a variety of fish foe catch and release fishing.  Onlookers can often spy a turtle sliding of a log to submerge in the water or spot the coy swimming in the first pond.  A gazebo and waterfall complete the landscaping around the first pond.  Benches and statues encourage passersby to stop and enjoy the calm beauty.  Don’t forget to check out the “Little Library” to pick up or leave a book after your walk or park visit.



There are multiple play areas for children as well as the ever favorite lion’s head water fountain!  Picnic tables and shelters for reservation make the Rec Center an ideal spot for picnicking and family get togethers.  Reservations to reserve the shelter areas may be made by contacting the West Union Parks and Recreation.  If you are looking to get outside and enjoy the warm weather consider visiting the West Union Recreation Center.
