Mueller is honored at annual Extension Awards Ceremony

Cici Mueller has been a volunteer for Allamakee County Extension and the NE Iowa region for over fifteen years through her work with the Master Gardener’s program, inspiring young minds to explore this craft by creating a 4-H garden club, mentoring middle school and high school youth through Postville’s Food and Fitness club focusing work on wellness initiatives and coordinating the regional FEEST teams, and being a judge at local county fairs for horticulture and 4-H food competition.

After her retirement from teaching Family Consumer Sciences at Postville High School, she has found a way to share her passion of wellness, food – cooking and growing it, and the outdoors with hundreds of youth. Her dedication to all of these youth has led to profound impacts in our community. The 4-H garden club where 100 youth over the last seven years have harvested over 5,000 pound of produce and sold to the school where it could be featured on the school lunch menu. The FEEST program she coordinates across the region encouraging youth to get creative in the kitchen and try new things in new ways. As a grandma, she even instills her love for these 4-H experiences with her grandkids and is a loyal volunteer for the Clover Kids program and a judge for 4-H competitions at surrounding county fairs.

Cici exemplifies the role of a volunteer and NE Iowa is ever thankful for all she has contributed to our communities. It is community partners and volunteers that make these initiatives and programs so impactful. Thank you Cici for all you’ve contributed and the impression you’ve made on youth in our region.
