Ashley Christensen, Safe Routes to School Liaison, was invited to present on rural Safe Routes to School efforts at this year’s Winter Cycling Congress. She gave an oral presentation about the Northeast Iowa Safe Routes to School Program, the only regionally-based rural SRTS program in the country. She also presented a poster on Northeast Iowa’s annual Bike Rack Challenge.
This professional development event unites a diverse group of people with a shared vision of increasing biking and walking among people of all ages and abilities through the winter. The Congress includes stakeholders and thought leaders from many areas: bicycle and pedestrian planners, Safe Routes to School, civil and traffic engineers, public works, urban design, landscape architecture, public health, journalism, the arts and many other areas.
