Did you wash your hands?

Flannery Cerbin, Farm to School Americorp worker for the NE IA Food & Fitness Initiative uses a black light to inspect the hand-washing technique of a school food service worker.  Twenty-eight food service staff from Decorah, Turkey Valley, Postville, Starmont and Oelwein schools recently participated in a 2-hour Safe Food workshop at Upper Iowa University as part of the NE Iowa Farm to School project.  The workshop was hosted by ISU Extension and provided training on hand washing, sanitizing, cross contamination and food temperatures.
